MARUCANNA backs the UK government’s ‘Zero Tolerance’ programme for health-care workers. This declares that healthcare personnel have the right to care for others without fear of being injured or mistreated. To offer services successfully, all personnel and patients must respect one another.
All of our employees strive to be courteous, helpful, and attentive to the unique requirements and circumstances of each patient. MARUCANNA would politely remind them that personnel were frequently presented with a variety of different and sometimes unpleasant responsibilities and situations all at once.
The staff at MARUCANNA understands that patients who are ill don’t always act rationally and consider this when attempting to resolve a misinterpretation or complaint; however, any sort of abusive, threatening, insulting words or actions, or disorderly behaviour with the intent of causing distress, harassment, or alarm, will not be accepted. This may lead to removal from the MARUCANNA patient registration, and all of our staff have the authority to report such incidents to the police for inquiry.
For MARUCANNA to preserve excellent relationships with their patients, We request that all patients read and be aware of the following types of unacceptable behaviour. (please note that this pertains to events by telephone, in person, online via social media or email):
- Using foul language or swearing at any MARUCANNA employee
- Any physical aggression, including pushing, shoving, and inappropriate physical contact, directed at any member of the MARUCANNA staff or other patients
- Any type of verbal abuse or threat directed at the personnel, including verbal insults
- Sexual harassment and racial abuse.
- Causing damage to or stealing from any MARUCANNA premises, employees, or patients
- Illegally obtaining pharmaceuticals and/or medical services
- Hostility directed at MARUCANNA employees, patients, or visitors because of the victim’s handicap, race, religion, sexual orientation, or transgender identity.
- Persistent or unreasonable expectations that put employees under stress will not be tolerated.
Requests will be fulfilled wherever feasible, and explanations will be provided when they cannot.
Removal from the MARUCANNA patient registry: A positive connection between a patient and MARUCANNA is founded on trust and mutual respect. The withdrawal of a patient from the MARUCANNA register is an uncommon and unusual event that is resorted to as a final resort in a strained patient-MARUCANNA relationship.
Removal from the MARUCANNA register will be considered when, despite best efforts, ties between the patient and MARUCANNA have irretrievably been damaged and it is in both the patient’s and MARUCANNA’S interests to end the connection. There is one exception to this rule, and that would be an event involving the police. This might lead to instant removal from the patient registry.
Removing other household members:
When there is more than one resident of a household registered with MARUCANNA, responsibility for additional members of the home may be terminated. The possibility of having contact with patients whose relatives are no longer patients of the practice (as a result of their poor conduct) or being confronted on a regular basis by their moved patient may make things too complicated for MARUCANNA to continue to care for other occupants of the household.
This is especially likely if the patient was taken due to aggression or threatening conduct, and continuing to treat the remaining members of the family might endanger doctors or their personnel.
Policy monitoring and review: In accordance with the Equality Act 2010, the execution of this policy will be reviewed for its impact on various staff and patient groups. This will allow MARUCANNA to determine whether any differences have a negative impact on a certain group, necessitating additional action.
The policy will be reviewed at least once a year, or more frequently if an occurrence, event, or change in legislation necessitates an earlier review.
